In March 2017, the new Carmen Thyssen Museum of Andorra opened its doors on the ground floor of the old Hotel Valira, located in the upper part of Escaldes-Engordany.
This emblematic building of the Andorran architecture will host temporary exhibitions that will be changed each year and are composed by paintings from the Carmen Thyssen-Bornemisza collection.
At the moment, and until January 14, 2018, visitors will be able to see 26 works of great artists of the last century reunited under the theme of spaces and landscapes with the exhibition "Scenarios. From Monet to Estes. From Trouville to New York ". This selection of paintings includes pieces by impressionist artists such as Monet, painters of the Catalan Modernism such as Ramon Casas, examples of German Expressionism and even of Social Realism with master Richard Estes.
In order to understand and observe all the details of each painting, the museum offers visitors an audioguide in 6 languages plus three touch screens with which they can consult more information or zoom in on the digitized works. Or, if you prefer, you can also hire a guided tour with one of the museum's specialists.
And to introduce the art world to the youngest ones in a playful and interactive way, the museum has created the EduCarmenThyssen space, which offers a great variety of pedagogical activities and workshops related to the exhibition. In this space, kids will be able to discuss and to know more about the paintings and the artistic movements to which they belong, always in an interactive way through memory and observation games.
Whether if you come alone or with your family, don't miss the first exhibition of the new Museum Carmen Thyssen of Andorra. At the reception of the hotel we will give you all the information you need and we will manage the reservation of your visit.
