Between the 12th and the 18th of March, the best skiers of the continent will reach the largest ski area in the Pyrenees to get to the podium.
We reveal you all the details of this great competition.
Andorra and the European Cup: a long-term relationship
2018 is not the first year in which the International Ski Federation, better known as FIS, trusts Grandvalira to host trials of its European Cup calendar.
In 1974 the slalom and giant slalom races of the cup were held for the first time in Andorra, more specifically in the Pas de Casa and in Grau Roig. But it was not until 2003 that Andorra became part of the European Cup circuit, and in 2012 it was able to host the first FIS Alpine Ski World Cup.
After the organizational success of the last trials that have taken place in our small country, the FIS decided to trust this year in the Principality to held the finals of the European Cup and to host next year's World Cup.
This year
During the week that the competition will last, the slalom, giant slalom, and downhill events will be carried out in both the men's and women's categories.
The great protagonists will once again be the legendary slopes Avet and Àliga, two names that have already been recorded in the minds of both professional skiers and fans of competitive skiing. Of the Avet slope, the German Maria Hölf-Riesch (champion of the World Cup of the 2010-11 season), after her participation in the 2012 World Cup, declared that "it is the best giant slope that exists in the circuit".
