Hiking with children in Andorra: themed hikes for a perfect summer

Andorra is the perfect destination for families looking for unique activities in the mountains.

These easy hiking trails in Andorra are themed, so you can explore them with your children while they have fun surrounded by nature, in the open air and away from screens. Each trail offers a story that children will experience as protagonists. Get ready to follow in their footsteps and discover a different way of learning about the environment around us.

The Macarulla trails are like walking through a story in first person.

These themed routes have been designed so that every step is part of an interactive story. Along the way, children will find panels, games and challenges that turn the route into a living experience. The aim is not to get there quickly, but to follow the instructions and complete the activities proposed along the way.
There are four different trails. The most famous is ‘El bosc dels Menairons’ located in the village of Pal in La Massana. The other three are also worth visiting because they are completely different from each other and are located in different parts of the Principality.

The Tamarros route and the souvenir book

This adventure begins with a clear challenge: to find the seven Tamarros hidden in the forests of Andorra. Each one has its own personality and is hidden in a special corner of one of the country's seven parishes. To follow this route, all you need to do is get the official book, where you can mark each Tamarro you find. Children will feel like they are part of a mission, and mums and dads will discover that it is the perfect plan for several days, without rushing and with renewed excitement at each search.
This is one of the most popular themed routes in Andorra because it combines nature, mystery and the satisfaction of completing a unique collection.

‘Moments: Som Muntanya’, a different perspective

This themed route in Andorra offers a sensory experience that connects families with their surroundings in a special way. Through small signposted points, you are invited to observe, touch, smell and listen to the mountains. This route is perfect for families looking for a peaceful walk. It takes place in the Rialb Valley, in Ordino, which runs parallel to the Sorteny Valley Natural Park. It is the only route that requires payment and must be booked at the Ordino tourist office or at the Sorteny Valley Natural Park information hut (open only in summer).

‘Bosc Viu’ is a walk that comes to life

On this walk, sculptures and figures blend in with the trees, creating a surprising landscape for children. It is a short and easy walk, ideal for families, where every corner invites you to stop and observe. Younger children will discover that nature can also tell stories through art.

Tips for going to the mountains with children

The mountains in summer are very healthy but always deserve respect. Wearing comfortable, closed-toe shoes, bringing enough water, some snacks, sunscreen and warm clothing, even on sunny days, is essential. It is also a good idea to plan the route and know the level of difficulty so that you can adapt it to the age of the children. On the themed routes in Andorra, success is not measured in kilometres travelled, but in how much fun you have along the way.
