Grandvalira will again be hosting the Finals of the Alpine Skiing World Cup (masculine and feminine) in 2023. And we now know the dates! From 13th to 19th March 2023... But that's not all, because the European Cup finals will also take place this season. From 14 to 20 March 2022 our hearts will again be throbbing at a high-level competition which is going to be held only 300 metres away from the hotel.
The FIS has already stated that the Soldeu and El Tarter sectors have already been chosen as the site for the Alpine skiing finals. In the voting, the Andorran ski-station was victorious over other candidates with a longer history, such as Kvitfjell-Hafjell and Lillehammer in Norway and Lenzerheide in Switzerland.
The World Cup finals are one of the most important world events in Alpine skiing, together with the Winter Olympic Games and the World Alpine Skiing Championships. Andorra experienced some World Cup finals from 11th to 17th March, 2019, on the Avet and Àliga slopes, which were already accustomed to major competitions. These slopes hosted the 2018 European Cup Finals (masculine and feminine), trials for the feminine World Cup on the Avet slope in 2012, and in the SG and SL categories in 2016, on the Àliga slope. Best of all: these are two emblematic slopes which can be seen perfectly from the rooms at the Park Piolets: the legendary Avet slope (Grandvalira - Soldeu) and the extraordinary Àliga slope (Grandvalira - El Tarter).
At the 2019 event, Park Piolets was one of the official partners for the Finals of the Alpine Skiing World Cup. As on previous occasions, the Sala Font Argent hosted the Race Office for the trials, and became the nerve centre for the strategic decisions that were taken as the trials progressed. We also had the pleasure of being the headquarters for the Captain’s Race, and of accommodating members of the FIS in our rooms.
During all of those days our rooms were luxury boxes from which to enjoy the competition.
Why not come and witness with us a new landmark in world sport?
