Skiing in Soldeu: a World Cup resort

Everything Soldeu has to offer: its facilities, slopes and activities, to plan your snow getaway.

No doubt you already know that we are located in Soldeu, as well as our proximity to the ski slopes that bear the same name. This charming village offers much more than idyllic landscapes, but… Do you really know what the slopes have to offer, what you can find there and what facilities are available? In this article, we'll give you all the details so that you can prepare your snowy getaway.

In the heart of Grandvalira
Soldeu is one of the 7 sectors of Grandvalira, connected to the other 6 by its slopes. In total it offers 50 skiable kilometres spread over 36 runs for all levels. The options are endless! For beginners and more experienced skiers alike; whether you ski or snowboard, with first-class facilities and ski lifts that facilitate access to all the slopes. It is the most central sector of the resort, its slopes are wide, with some extreme descents for those who want to feel the adrenaline of the downhill.
But that's not all. This sector has a freeride area and several ski mountaineering circuits.
An interesting fact is that Soldeu had the first chairlift in Andorra in 1964. At that time, Soldeu had just 10 skiable kilometres spread over 3 routes.

A World Cup sector
When you ski in Soldeu you have the opportunity to ski on one of the World Cup circuits: the Avet slope, where the Alpine skiing World Cup is held. In 2019 and 2023, together with the Àliga slope in the Tarter sector, it hosted the finals of this competition and, since 2008, the Avet slope has been the venue for the slalom and giant slalom events.
The International Ski Federation (FIS) approved the Avet slope in 2007 due to its characteristics. It has a north-east orientation, which guarantees the quality of the snow, and a gradient of 416 metres for the giant slalom and 210 metres for the slalom. In 2019, for the first finals, the arrival area was transformed to connect the resort with the village, thanks to a 14,000 m2 ski platform, which improves the arrival of skiers and offers more services for the competitions. In the heart of Grandvalira

An ideal resort for families
If you come to ski with your family, you won't miss anything in this sector. It has different facilities for your children. Such as the nursery school where children from 2 to 5 years old will have their first contact with the snow under the guidance of monitors while they play games in indoor and outdoor spaces. Soldeu also has a snow garden for children aged between 3 and 5, where they can take skiing courses on closed circuits. You also have the possibility of enrolling the youngest, from 3 to 11 years old, in the Kids Programmes, available in Soldeu for a day or half-day, which include group classes and activities. You can also book group classes for children aged 6 to 11 from this sector. Finally, you can enjoy a fun and original descent as a family.
The Yokai circuit, 600 metres long and inspired by the "capercaillie", the emblematic bird that inhabits the forests of the area.

The après-ski in Soldeu
The après-ski offer in the area is varied, including restaurants, bars and discotheques located at the foot of the slopes, in the streets of the village. It also offers additional activities on the slopes. One of the highlights is the Snake Gliss, a set of articulated sledges that are guided by an instructor. This exciting descent starts in Espiolets and continues towards Soldeu, crossing the slopes of Astoret, Os and Bosc Fosc. This activity starts after the resort closes and is available for children from 3 years of age.

Initiatives in favour of sustainability
In 2022, the Soldeu - El Tarter sectors became the first company in Andorra to receive the "Llum Verda" certificate, which certifies that all its electrical energy consumed comes from renewable sources. The exclusive use of renewable energy contributes significantly to the reduction of CO2 emissions, which for these ski resorts translates into an approximate 50% reduction in their carbon footprint.
