Andorra Skimo
Fans of the ski mountaineering prepare the skis and the seal skins. This is the occasion to cross Andorra through its snowy mountains. The SKIMO returns to Andorra, a test of mountain skiing that stands out both for the distance it implies and for the beauty of the natural sites that the participants will visit.
The competition takes place in different events for teams of 2 or 3 people and counts towards the open mountain races of the FEEC calendar (only teams of 2 people).
The Skimo 02
It is a 14-kilometre traverse that starts at the Sorteny car park at 1,985 metres and finishes at the Ordino-Arcalís resort at 2,100 metres. Teams can be of 2 or 3 people from 15 years of age and in the children's version, minors must be accompanied by an adult. It counts towards the Catalonia Cup (only teams of 2 people).
The Skimo 04
Long-distance race in the high mountains that links the two valleys. The start is from the Grau Roig sector of Grandvalira at 2,200m and the finish at Ordino Arcalís at 2,100m and has a distance of 40 km. It also counts towards the Catalan ski mountaineering cup (only teams of 2 people).
The Skimo 06
This race covers 30 km and 6 sheltered refuges, passing through the Madriu-Perafita-Claror Valley, starting from Naturland and finishing in Grau Roig.
The Skimo 08
The first stage takes place in the Madriu-Perafita-Claror natural park and the second stage links two refuges in the Sorteny and Rialb valleys. This crossing scores for the Andorra Cup of ski mountaineering, both for teams of 2 and 3 people.
The Skimo 10
This impressive event, which aspires to consolidate its place in the ski mountaineering events calendar, is suitable for professionals and also for the growing number of amateurs in this sporting discipline. The only requirement: to do it in teams of two or three people.
The route, which starts at Naturlandia and finishes at the Ordino Arcalís ski resort, passes through 10 high mountain refuges and such representative spots in Andorra as the Nou lake, the Illa lake, the Madriu Valley (the latter listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site) and the Grau Roig ski resort.
A spectacular high mountain route with a first stage without major difficulties and a more technical second stage that makes it a real challenge. The objective: to finish as a team and, above all, to enjoy every minute of the journey and the incredible landscapes that we will find along the way.
These races count towards the Park Piolets Andorra Ski Mountaineering Cup.
